Tin of 8 Beeswax Crayons
Whether you've heard Stockmar Wax Crayons or not, there is no denying their amazing quality once you hold them. Stockmar wax crayons meet the highest artistic standards. Through the use of pure bee's wax as a binding agent, the non-toxic light-resistant pigments display their purity and full brilliance. The natural transparency of the wax and the lack of additives result in a highly versatile degree of opacity almost like that of watercolours. Available in either standard, Waldorf or Supplementary colour selections.

Based in Schleswig-Holstein (Germany), The Stockmar Company has been making quality products for art and art teaching for decades. Hans Stockmar started producing beekeeping products and beeswax candles in 1922. Acting on the suggestion of several art teachers, he soon proceeded to develop his modelling wax and then – shortly after – the classic Stockmar wax crayon was created. That was more than 50 years ago.
Beeswax and colour: at Stockmar, that is what it all comes down to. Stockmar really equates to beeswax, so closely is the firm associated with the bee product. Of course, it is the main raw material used to make candles, but it is also an important component in their wax-based paints, crayons and modelling beeswax. Beeswax is, in fact, crucially important to the paints. Both in the wax-based paints and in the modelling beeswax it is responsible for the characteristic transparent, glazed effect.
As well as aesthetic principles and art teaching considerations, ecological and social aspects are also central to the development and manufacture of Stockmar's products. Regular painting workshops for the employees and profit-sharing by the staff (they are not a capital owned company) are cornerstones of Stockmar's corporate philosophy. Last but not least, Stockmar is fully aware of the responsibility placed on them by the consumer; every item produced at Stockmar is of the utmost quality while being as safe and environmentally neutral as possible.
